After braking our 7th transmission in the Blazer; We figured it was time to give some much needed attention to the Drive train and throw in some beefy hangers. We contacted Sky Manufacturing based out of Oregon and they sent us there new Chevy Straight Axle Kit. |

Its never fun when your in the middle of a bog doing a donut and all you see is tranny fluid dumping out of your truck. |

Locate the inside of the frame rails where the Rear Hangers weld on. |

Try to get rid of anything that’s going to weaken the weld |
|
Since this truck was already a Straight Axle all the IFS was already out. In most cases this where you disassemble the IFS and start Torching, Grinding and more Grinding. |

Grind and Clean For a Good Weld |

Rip out the old Straight Axle Brackets |

Grind and Clean For a Good Weld |

Again try to remove anything that’s going to mess up the welding process. |

Front Bracket |

Measure and clamp on the front Bracket. Tack weld and move to the rear hangers |

Rear Hangers |
|
Measure the rear hangers and tack on. |

Rear Shackles |
|
Grease up and install the rear shackles to the hangers using the bolts supplied in the Kit. |

Install Springs |
|
We installed the front springs and Gently let the truck down. (Remember its only tack welded and Clamped) Then we double checked the measurements and angles before we made our final welds. |

Make the final Welds |
|
We welded the corners and the pre drilled holes on the rear hangers. |
|
Final Welds |
|
Weld completely around where the frame rails meet the front bracket. Clean, paint and put everything back together. |
